Hello
Members.
Our club has been quite busy these past two weeks. With
alot of Elvis functions going on to celebrate Elvis'
birthday.
Some of our members went to Memphis this year for the big
party there. I got a very excited call from Lisa Stewart,
our secretary, on the 9th. She called to tell me that she
got the first piece of birthday cake that was cut on the
front lawn of Graceland for Elvis' big day! The piece for
was given to her by the Shelby County Mayor of Memphis.
This put a spot light on her and she ended up getting
talked to by The Commercial Appeal new paper in Memphis
too as well as filmed by the local TV news media.
Needless to say she was very excited! :)
She emailed me a day later, after getting home to tell me
a few things about the events. Elvis' was given many
awards for his music hits this summer. The places and
numbers of records sold were very amazing. You can see
them at Elvis.com. They'll be listed in our next
newsletter as well. Elvis' Lilo and Stitch movie was
Disney's biggest money making movie in Disney's history!
The big dance EPE held in Memphis was also, i hear, alot
of fun. Folks got all dressed up for what sounds like
some great food and, as Lisa put it, "Just about
anything you can think of to wash it down". :)
I could not attend this event and in my place Glenda and
Ray Byrd went. It was Ray's birthday! I was so very
happy that he has such a wonderful evening on his
birthday. I wont say how old Ray is but, Ray? YOU DO NOT
LOOK YOUR AGE HONEY!!!! :) I'm sure i dont need to tell
Glenda that! I'm glad you guys had such a great time!
I'll share photos, given to me, soon.
Some club members, i'm told, went to Vegas over the
weekend of Jan 4th for the big Elvis Bash there. The huge
Elvis Impersonator convention takes place there over his
birthday every year. I'll try to share any photos that
get turned in from that event if possible.
Here at home we had a club meeting with some games, for
prizes, and some Elvis on the TV screen to watch and
admire.
Several new members, who came as guests, joined our club!
We were very excited to have Josh Dietrich, Ashley Karrer
and Raina White as new members! Josh walked out with two
winning prizes from Bingo that day. He won a video of
Thats The Way It Is Special Edition and a tour guide book
of Memphis. Which i hear is on his families "Places
to see" list. Many other members won FTD cd's and
other various prizes. I want to thank everyone that came!
So many of you gave me a helping hand in cleaning up and
thanks to those who gave me some funds to help pay for
some of the expense. You are truly appreciated and it was
a load of fun!
I hope everyone of you had some kinda fun over Jan 8th!
Take care and talk to you soon. Watch the websites for
some new photos from our members.
God Bless
Patricia Garber
